Sampling for olfactometry/odour tests
Samples for olfactometry / odour tests are taken in accordance with PN-EN ISO/IEC 13725:2007 and VDI 3880:2011. The basic equipment used for sampling is vacuum samplers, which work in a similar way to a lung (creating a vacuum and automatic filling of the sample). Samples are taken into a foil bag placed inside a vacuum sampler. Both the bags and anything else that may come into contact with the air sample to be collected must be made of suitable odourless materials.
For surface source sampling, special housings made of odourless material (stainless steel) are additionally used.
We have different housings to suit different types of odour emission sources:
- Sampling enclosure for active surface sources.
- Sampling enclosure for passive surface source.
In addition, during measurements, equipment is used to measure flue gas parameters (temperature, pressure, humidity, volume flow) and ambient parameters (temperature, atmospheric pressure).
The measured temperature and humidity values are used, among other things, to determine the dew point temperature. If the dew point temperature is higher than the ambient temperature at which the sample will be located, the sample should be diluted to avoid condensation.
Depending on the degree of dilution required, the following are used:
- static dilution, using a special tube
- dynamic dilution, using the GSP dilution probe
